Kind of complicated? More like a lot complicated. Regardless, the small parallel she offered did help him to understand her self-proclaimed ability of flight, at least a bit. Still, his nod was slow and thoughtful as he tried to process that information. “Uh-huh… I guess that… Makes sense?” Geeze. He really wasn’t good at the mystical half of the world. Machines were all he seemed to understand. “You could show me?” Well, proof made anything easier to believe. “If you like…”

Well, he still seemed pretty confused. Ah, well— he seemed the type who had to see things before readily believing them. “Sure I can show you! See?” And just like that, her pair of bright pink wings unfolded behind her, glinting in the afternoon sun.

Crickets.

“Well, I remember that, but…” He hadn’t been informed that this whole flying thing came prepackaged with the deal of being the Chosen. Frankly, he didn’t even understand the whole Chosen thing very well. “I’m afraid things like this just aren’t my forte…” He was used to machinery; things like this just… Went over his head, most of the time.

“Hmm? Don’t worry about it! It’s kind of complicated, I guess…” And hard to explain. “But, basically, um— oh! I got it!” She grinned, and pointed to the crystal mounted over her collar bone. “I guess you could call this my ‘hover drive’! I got it when I began my journey as the Chosen. It’s what lets me fly— well, I got my wings because of it!” Hopefully that parallel would make it a little easier to understand… “I could show you, if you like!”

“Don’t worry.” It was more funny if anything. Ginji nodded slowly, in growing confusion as she continued to speak to him. Heh, that really… Really just— “Makes no sense…” he mumbled aloud, rubbing the back of his neck as he raised a brow at the blonde-haired girl. “I’m afraid you’ve lost me.”

Huh! She really hadn’t told him after all. Sometimes it was so easy to lose track… “What do you mean? I have wings; of course I can fly! It kind of came with being the Chosen… I told you about that, right? “

Albisoar— “Albiore,” he corrected, though he chuckled regardless. She was really like a child, sometimes; though he knew that she was much older than she seemed at times. Not that he minded, really. However… “I’ll admit you’re pretty amazing, but I don’t think you come complete with a hover-drive, Colette.” She couldn’t possibly do such a thing herself— probably just another joke, he told himself. He needed to not take things so literally.

Oh! “Oops! I’m sorry, heheh.” She tilted her head, looking at him and smiling. “A hover-drive? Is that what you use to fly? But that’s just for machines, right? I don’t need one! I can fly by myself just fine!” Ah, he probably wouldn’t believe her. Then, he wouldn’t be the first not to.

“I’m sure our combined intelligence can figure it out,” he joked a bit. “How hard is it to find a massive body of water?” With enough walking they could find it; assuming he could even keep up with the younger girl.

“Yeah— teamwork!” She laughed, joking a bit. “We could always fly in your Albisoar or I could just fly up myself to look around if we can’t find it soon, though!”

Heheh, with you around, that’s about a grantee, hm?” With the optimism she held, he couldn’t see it going any other way.

Was she really so happy? Interesting— “Alright, alright; hey, wait for me—” he laughed, taking a few quick steps to keep up with the younger blonde. “Think so? I must have not been paying much attention.” Not that he came around here often in the first place.

“Well, there must be, right?” Colette grinned at him, her pace still brisk. “We could always ask for directions! Or maybe we’ll just come across it eventually, right? It can’t be that hard to find!”

Was that the case? He was almost surprised to hear that; he hadn’t yet met anyone with the same trouble as himself. “You can’t? Ah— but that sounds like a good idea.” It would be a nice way for the two of them to enjoy their time there without having to worry about deep waters.

Geeze. It was almost hard to say no to her when she acted like that, pulling on his arm a bit like a child and looking up at him. “Heh… No, I’m not busy at all. I’d love to go with you.” He normally wasn’t quite so spontaneous, but, what was the harm?

“Nope! I never really got to learn… But it’ll be fun anyway, Ginji!”

Colette gave a little sigh of relief. “Oh, good! I was hoping you weren’t— Let’s go, then!” And off she went, Ginji in tow. “There’s a beach not too far from here, I think!” Because convenient

Ginji smiled slightly, and nodded at her response. “I suppose… You’re welcome.” Not that he felt the thanks were at all necessary; he was stating an observation and nothing more. But her endearing reactions were nice to see.

A nervous chuckle escaped him at her question, and assurance that they could stay strictly on the beach if he was afraid of the water. “Not so much afraid of it. I just can’t swim.” Living in a desert, what need was there for him to learn to swim as a child? He was too busy amusing himself with machinery even at a young age than the knowledge of staying afloat in water.

She was making a list now. Ginji laughed, “I understand. That actually sounds really nice, Colette; beach-bound or not.” He didn’t have much work to do anyway. What was the harm of a little break?

“Oh!” So it wasn’t a fear. “Is that all? Well, maybe we could go in the shallow water a little bit, then!” Her smile turned a bit sheepish— “I can’t really swim either, so that’s what I do… ” Iselia was pretty far from any lake or ocean. Even if they had, it might have been considered too dangerous for the Chosen to try.

“It does? Then we should go right now— you’re not busy or anything, are you, Ginji?” Though she was already grabbing him eagerly by the arm…
